Last month, on the spur of the moment, I decided to take in a workshop called Awakening the Dreamer offered by the Pachamama Alliance in Ottawa, Ontario. What were my expectations? I was open to learning more about healing the Earth … and to be honest, I really didn’t have a second agenda, just an impish curiosity to see where this experience would take me.
About half-an-hour into the lecture, I was feeling at home with the course material. “Yes”, I thought to myself, “this very well done”. A couple of hours later, I was so engrossed that I put my name forward for the Awakening the Dreamer Facilitator Training in January 2011. Since then, I've been meeting new people, exploring Earth-friendly resources, and scouting for nifty spots to offer the workshop in 2011 in my geographic footprint--California, Ontario, and Nova Scotia.
The program appeals to me because it fits seamlessly into my lifestyle, connects the with "big picture" (at least for me), is lovingly pro-active, and most importantly, offers websites, groups, and resources that I can easily tap into without having to spend hours sifting through a Google search ... yes, I have done that – plenty of times.
At the end of the day, what comes to mind is a timely insight from Janet Goodfellow, a member of the steering committee for Transition Perth. From her perspective, we are all pioneers and leaders in the environmental arena. No one person or group has the definitive solution, and the real momentum is at the grassroots level. After being inspired into action by the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium, I am inclined to believe her.
